Obituary for
Donald Grant Stadnek
With deep sadness we announce the passing of our Dad Donald Grant Stadnek. He was born July 22, 1950 and entered into rest January 5, 2023. Don's final wishes included not having a funeral service.
Don or Donnie was born to Florence and Walter Stadnek, the second son of five children. He grew up on the family farm north of Weekes in the Neely Lake area.
Don was an overcomer. He struggled with health issues since he was born and accomplished things that he was told he would never do. Nothing ever came easy, but to talk to him you would never know that.
When you got to know him, which many people did because of his genuine interest in other people, you soon realized he was always looking for the positive, the next big thing, things were going to be great, just around the corner.
He loved the land where he grew up and brought his wife Eldora to the farm shortly after they were married. They raised 3 children there until Don's dreams couldn't be contained to Neely Lake. Don and Eldora moved to the Porcupine Plain area where their children finished high school.
Don and Eldora's lives took separate life paths and Don had a short stay in Endeavor, where the call of his mother's family in the Preeceville area was strong.
Don's income came from many different sources. He started out grain farming and adding cattle and pigs to their mixed farm. He also had a huge custom baling and hay sales operation, hauling oilfield fluids, mixing in scrap iron hauling and buying and selling anything and everything. He loved to wheel and deal and was sure he was going to hit it big with one of his ideas, it was just a matter of time.
When Don's health failed to the point that he couldn't work he moved into Hudson Bay where he could coffee every day without too much trouble and do what he loved - getting to know people, who they were deep in their heart.
During his retirement Don had the pleasure of getting to spend many hours with his nephew Shaun, when Shaun started to reestablish the family farm. He had some of his happiest times there growing food and helping Shaun farm.
Don was predeceased by his father Walter and his older brother Eric. Don is survived by his mother Florence. Daughter Rhonda (Terry) Serhan, Kaitlyn, Michaela & Bailey (Dylan). Son Curtis (Annie) Stadnek, Stephen, Spencer (Marissa), Nate and Adam. Daughter Jodi (Ryan) Chaplin. Tia (Kody) Janzen, Rowyn, Luka, Ember & Madison. Brother David Stadnek. Sisters Lynn Stadnek and Val (Ralph) Farley. Sister-in-law Jackie Stadnek as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.
Don made many close friends and his humour and genuine care for the people around him will leave a huge hole.
