Obituary for Alice Maureen MacPherson (Salmond)

Alice Maureen MacPherson (Salmond)
Alice Salmond MacPherson, daughter of Harry and Margaret Salmond, was born in Regina, Saskatchewan September 5, 1941. She started her early years on the family farm in the Neely Lake district north of Weekes. The Neely Lake School was just across the road from the farm, and that is where she started grade 1. When she was 10, they moved to a farm in the Golden Glow school district north of Porcupine Plain, where she met her future husband, Charles MacPherson. Alice and Charlie were married 5 August 1958 and were the parents of 4 children, Donald, Deborah, William and Noel (with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren that now live around the world)
While her children were growing up, Alice worked as a Cashier at the Parkland Co-op. She worked there until her retirement. The store was in the center of town so she was known by the entire community. She was appreciated for her cheerful good nature, and her amazing ability to know almost everyone’s Co-op number.
Alice was very fond of animals. She loved to ride her horse, Lady, and her dogs Monty and Buddy were very close to her heart. She was also very musical. Besides having a lovely singing voice, she played the accordion. Knitting and crocheting was another of her skills, and she made numerous sweaters and afghans for her family.
Alice MacPherson passed away June 15, 2022 at Porcupine Plain Hospital. A family graveside service was held June 25, 2022 at Chelan-Hillcrest Cemetery, Rev. Nancy Steinbachs, officiating. Funeral services courtesy Blair’s Funeral Home, Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan.
She will be sadly missed.
