Obituary for Geneva Kowalski (Konchakowski)

Geneva was born on May 10, 1923 to parents Antionette (Listowski) and Winsent Konchakowski in Zabara, Wolyn, Poland.
In the spring of 1929, Geneva along with her parents and brother Stanley travelled from Warsaw, Poland to London, England where they walked down the London Bridge to board the ship destined for Canada. They arrived in Halifax on May 29, 1929. the family travelled across Canada , finally settling in High Tor, Saskatchewan. Geneva attended Pee Wee School and after graduating from High School started nurse training at the Tisdale Hospital. Discovering this was not for her she then moved to Hamilton, Ontario where she was trained as a welder and worked on army equipment used in World War 11. She was proud of the fact that she had worked on the tanks and barges destined for Dieppe. When the war ended she moved back to Porcupine Plain and began working at Chelsom’s drug store. It was here she met Leon Kowalski. They dated and were married on January 12, 1948. In 1949 they were blessed with their only child Leona. Geneva was all for her family, gardening, her flowers and cooking. She was quiet by nature and loved company. She always attempted to “fill up” anyone with food attention or concern. Geneva was predeceased by her parents, loving husband Leon and brother Stanley.
She is survived by her daughter Leona (Ernest); grandsons: Everett (Debbie), Eldon (Courtney); great-grand children: Elissa, Marek, Jaxon, Archer, Harley; step great grandson Bradyn.

Those so wishing may make memorial donations in memory of Geneva to the Red Deer Nursing Home or to the Porcupine - Carragana Hospital, P.O. Box 70, Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan, S0E 1H0.
