Obituary for Marlene Annette Flowers

Marlene Annette Flowers (nee Shobe) was born on July 10, 1942 in Wadena to Art and Lyla Shobe. She was raised in Nut Mountain and went to school there.

On December 4, 1959 she married her love, Harold Flowers. To this union five daughters Diane, Darlene, Kathy, Janet, Tracy and one son Michael were born. Marlene lived on the Flowers family farm with her husband where they raised their children. Marlene grew a large garden and for many years operated a greenhouse. She had a green thumb like no other! Marlene had a heart of gold and her door was always open to anyone who wanted a cup of coffee or a baked treat.

She loved her grandchildren dearly and would always have a little something for them. At the age of 12 her granddaughter Darla came to live on the farm and Marlene loved her like her own.

Marlene spent many hours cooking and baking, playing solitaire, doing crossword puzzles, crocheting and knitting. She could also be found watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy most evenings and who could forget her passion for bingo. She had a passion for fashion and loved to shop; some of her favorite purchases were purses, shoes and jewelry.

Predeceased by her parents Art and Lyla Shobe; daughter Diane; infant brother Edward; sisters Wilma Bagnall and Doreen Pierce; father-in-law Clarence and mother-in-law Pauline.

Left to mourn by her loving husband Harold of 61 years; children: Darlene, Kathy, Janet (Nelson), Tracy (Sheldon), Michael (Kendra); grandchildren: Darla (Jeff), Brandon, Delyse, Brandi, Brody, Shelby, Hunter and Harper; great grandchildren Hailee and Kylee; sister Elaine and many nieces and nephews.
