Obituary for Mary Tyacke (Porsnuk)

“Truly, truly, I say unto you, that unless a grain of wheat falls to the earth and dies, it remains but a single grain, if it dies it produces much fruit.”
John 12:24

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Tyacke (nee Porsnuk) announce that Mary went peacefully to be with the Lord on February 18, 2015, in Hudson Bay, SK, at the age of 80 years.
Mary Tyacke was born at home on January 25, 1935 in the High Tor district (south of Porcupine Plain) to William and Rozina (Rosie) Porsnuk; the 4th of 13 children. From High Tor the family moved to Bertwell and then to Weekes.
Mary left home at a young age and moved to Weekes (before the family did) to find work; soon she found work in a local restaurant. In 1953 Mary married Tilmon Tyacke in the United Church in Hudson Bay. They resided in Weekes until 1972 when the family moved to Hudson Bay.
While living in Weekes, Mary was a stay at home mom and eventually worked part time at the Weekes Hotel. Mary was very active in her community, playing softball, curling (her team won many trophies - she loved to watch curling on TV whenever she could right up to the last televised events prior to February 8th, 2015) and playing cards with her friends, Nettie Sturby, Kate Grisdale, Phyllis Chapman, and at times her mom Rosie Porsnuk and Laura Allen. She was also a member of the Weekes Royal Purple (and for a short while a member of the Hudson Bay Royal Purple).
After moving to Hudson Bay Mary worked as a waitress and then at the Hudson Bay Hospital; first in housekeeping and then as a Dietary Aide until she retired at the age of 60. Mary was very active in her local church as well; first at St. Stephens United Church where she sang in the choir and then at Grace Chapel until such time that her health prevented her from attending church regularly. She always looked forward to her Pastor and his wife visiting her at home so she could take Communion.
Mary was a record keeper and had many binders, scribblers, notepads, etc. around the house where she recorded events in her life and that of her family and others that impacted her (dating back to the 70s). She kept a very accurate record of the weather in those entries, as well as hundreds and hundreds of scripture references. So far her children found hundreds of pages of her thoughts and scripture references.
Mary is survived by her children: Ron (Tami) Tyacke, Marie (Gerald Rehman) Reynders, Darlene (Randy) Cross and Cindy Tower. Her grandchildren: Chris (Gwen) Reynders, Steven (Cross) Wintersnight, Corey (Rose) Reynders, Tennille (Kim) Fischer, Sanchal (Tyler) Bjerland, Karla (Shawn) Rollie, Michael (Alex) Reynders, Ron (Cherise) Tower, Elijah (Kristine) Cross.
Her great grandchildren: Raquel, Quinton, Devon (Lyla, Shayla and Teyton) Reynders, Kaitlyn, Jaxen and Kierra Fischer, Emily and Camryn Tower and Megan Rollie, Hunter, Owen and Kaybree Bjerland, Kirah, Kowin and Kristjan Reynders, Laura and Anna Mary Tower.
Her siblings: Vicky Padalec, Irene Leason, Alice Delowski, Edith Grisdale, Norman Porsnuk, James Porsnuk and Don Edwards. As well as her sister in law Joyce Porsnuk and Frances Porsnuk, many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Mary was predeceased by: her parents William and Rozina Porsnuk, her husband Tilmon, her grandson Brandon Tower and her siblings Willie, Victoria, Joe, Leslie and Peter Porsnuk.
The funeral service was held on February 25, 2015, at 2:00 P.M., in the Grace Chapel, Hudson Bay, SK, with Pastor Harold Jones officiating. Interment followed in the Hudson Bay Town Cemetery. Active casket bearers were: Randy Cross (Son-in-law), Ron Tower (Grandson), Tyler Bjerland (Grandson-in-law), Kim Fischer (Grandson-in-law), Marvin Burley (Nephew), and Larry Padalec (Nephew). Honorary bearers were mentioned as “All Those Who Have Shared In Mary’s Life”. The eulogy was delivered by Pastor Harold Jones, and tributes in memory of Mary were given by Ron Tower (Grandson) and Cindy Tower (Daughter). Musical ministry for the service was provided by Pianist Shirley Ashdown and Organist Elaine Ashdown. Friends who so desire, may direct memorial donations in memory of Mary to the Grace Chapel, Hudson Bay, SK, S0E 0Y0. Following the committal service the Ladies of Grace Chapel served lunch in the lower hall of the Grace Chapel.

God looked around His garden
and found an empty space,
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you
and lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.
He know that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids
and whispered,
“Peace Be Thine.”
It broke our hearts to lose you,
but you did not go alone;
For part of us went with you the day
God called you home.
