Besides his religious family, Father Jean-Marie leaves to mourn his brother Jacques (Suzanne), his sister Aline Chartrand, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Macdas and Hélène (née Levesque), his sister Frances (Aurele) Lavergne, and brother Jean Marc (Mianne).
Jean-Marie was born on April 1, 1926. He grew up on a Dairy farm close to Clarence Creek, ON. He received his education in Clarence Creek and the University in Ottawa, ON.
He pronounced his first vows in Richelieu, QC on August 15, 1947, his perpetual vows on September 8, 1950 in Lebret, SK and was ordained on June 12, 1952 in Clarence Creek. Father Jean-Marie worked with the native missions and then went to Gravelbourg where he taught motor mechanics at College Mathieu. He also worked at Muskowekwan Indian School with a religious brother for a few years. He then received an appointment to Perigord, SK, where he stayed until his illness.
