Obituary for Richard William Bloski

Richard William Bloski was born September 18, 1957 in Porcupine Plain, SK to Helen Elizabeth (Poniatowski) and William Bloski.
His family lived in Carragana, SK until the summer of 1966, when they moved to Porcupine Plain, SK. Richard took grades 1-3 in Carragana, SK and completed elementary and highschool in Porcupine Plain, graduating in 1975. He then enrolled in the University of Saskatchewan and attained a Psychology Degree with Distinction. During this period he worked at Greenwater Provincial Park as a summer student, which led to his lifelong career at the lake, achieving 40 years of service. His seasonal job eventually became full-time employment in the same year as he married Trudine Mary Greenwald.
Richard met Trudi in Saskatoon and after a six-year, long distance relationship they were married at Metinota, SK., on April 14th, 2007. They settled down in the home which he had built in 1983 in the park. During the ensuing years, Richard renovated parts of the original cabin and built a walkout basement under it. Richard and Trudi enjoyed several annual trips to Las Vegas, California, Arizona and most recently, a fun-filled trip to Puerto Vallarta.
Through this marriage Richard gained a stepdaughter; Amanda Lee Caddel, who was married and had four children at the time.
During his schooldays in Porcupine Plain he delivered groceries part-time for the local Co-op store. Richard also had a summer job working at the Gulf service station located just off the highway.
As a youngster Richard was artistically creative and excelled at drawing. He collected coins and stamps and also captured and displayed butterflies. He took piano lessons and competed in local music festivals. He took some Royal Conservatory exams and achieved grade 6 in music. He also played the Alto Saxophone in the Hudson Bay school band in his early high school years.
In his early working life, Richard enjoyed playing slowpitch as well as cards and other games. He developed a passion for Corvettes, eventually owning first a 1971 model which was later replaced with a 1986 model. Other activities that he enjoyed were fishing, golfing, waterskiing, and travelling. He began collecting Coca-Cola and hockey memorabilia which continued for the rest of his life. One of his greatest skills became apparent in his abilities as a "jack-of-all-trades" which served him well in his career. In his spare time later in life, Richard also enjoyed recycling-particularly metals-which became a source of spending money to try to beat the odds at the casino. He was a devoted son who frequently visited with and helped his parents around their home in Porcupine Plain. He was also well known as the "go to" guy whenever fellow cabin owners in the park needed home or yard maintenance, in addition to cutting and selling firewood in the off season.
Richard was predeceased by his mother Helen, several aunts and uncles, and his cousin Perry Bloski. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 10 years Trudi; stepdaughter Mandy (Philip) Caddel; father Bill; father & mother-in-law Matt & Mary Greenwald; sister Brenda (Jeff) Miller; special nieces Megan (Trevor) Gerwing; Jillian (Travis) Sparrow; and special nephew Brett Miller; grandchildren: Matthew Stainton, Ethan, Isabelle, Sara, Joseph, Joshua and Jacob Caddel; five brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
