Obituary for Henry Bozak

Henry Bozak was born on October 1, 1920 on the homestead at SW Section 12-45-04, W2, SK (near Hudson Bay, SK) to parents Mike and Mary Bozak. He attended the White Poplar School. When Henry was 16 years old, he rode the box cars looking for work, and took very little food with him. When the train made a quick stop, he noticed a nice garden with cabbages and cucumbers by the rail road tracks, he jumped off the train and ran toward the garden when two old ladies with brooms were running toward him and chased him back on the train. That made him decide to go back to the farm. Henry met his sweet heart Annie Gogol in 1940, and fell in love with her cooking. Grandpa Gogol asked Henry when are you going to get married? This puzzled Henry as to why Grandpa Gogol asked him that. One of his nieces’ told him it is because you couldn’t keep your eyes off Annie, that’s why Grandpa Gogol asked. Henry and Annie got married on November 25, 1942. They had one son Dennis Bozak born on December 31, 1943. Dennis was their pride and joy. In 1948 Henry and Annie moved to their homestead and worked together and built a good life.
When it was decided that the Adventist Church was to be built, Henry got the logs and did a lot of work on the church building. Henry and his son Dennis had a softball team. It was a three-man team, Henry, Dennis, and cousin Edward. All Dennis had to do for the team was to get on base and the other two would hit the home runs, they were all fast runners and excellent players. Their three-man team won against a full-team.
Henry was a kind hearted, cheerful guy who lived a long life and always had a story to tell, and they were amazing stories. He always had a smile on his face and was a hard worker and loved his diet coke. He also loved to go for rides out in the country and in town for hours, and was an animal lover. Many of his stories were about driving on boxcars, and working in the bush and his farming experience. Henry also had a story about Samkah (a Troll) that he told to scare and tease his two nieces’ Elaine and Joanne. He told them that Samkah would take them and have them cook and clean, they were so scared to go upstairs because they were told Samkah was living under the stairs in the basement. For many, Henry was the guy to go to for advice, and he always had a solution for things. If anyone had a problem with smoking and drinking or drugs, Henry’s solution was simple - “a quick swift kick in the behind, would be a sure cure to solution.”
Henry loved to have company and will be forever missed.
Henry was predeceased by his wife Annie; parents Mike and Mary; sisters: Mary, Anne, and Cassie; and brothers: one in infancy, Nick, Mike, Joe and Walter. Henry is survived by his son Dennis, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

When the moon rises,
The stars shine,
You were always on my mind,
Your special like the stars in the sky,
Still can’t believe it was your time,
Tomorrow the sun will rise,
You’ll be the clouds floating threw my mind,
And the rain crying threw my eyes.
Wish you the best,
Your our angel at his rest,
Still can’t believe it.
Hope for the best.
