Roger Mathew Johnson
Roger Mathew Johnson
January 24, 1961 to August 6, 2016
Roger passed away on Saturday, August 6 at the Hudson Bay Health Care Facility after a lengthy illness.
Roger was born on a cold January 24 day in the year 1961. He was the youngest in a family of five. We were all delighted with our baby brother. He grew up enjoying farm life and at one time even had a pet turkey. His school years were spent in Weekes, graduating from grade 12 in 1979.
After graduation Roger worked at the plywood plant in Hudson Bay until poor health terminated his employment.
Roger enjoyed watching hockey and baseball, and was a Saskatchewan Roughrider fan.
Roger was interested and involved in the lives of his nieces and nephews. He took the time to play games and chuck a football around when they visited. Roger was always on hand to assist family members or to assist where help was needed.
Several years ago Roger was very involved in assisting his dad through the trials and tribulations of insurance claims and cleanup when his basement was flooded. Later Roger became Dad's fulltime care giver.
Roger took pride in keeping his house clean and tidy, and always planted flowers in his yard every summer until the past couple years as his health continued to fail.
Roger enjoyed cooking for guests. Many family members will remember his famous macaroni salad.
Roger was much loved by his family members and will be greatly missed.
Roger was predeceased by his mother Elsie in 1991 and his father Robert in 2010.
Roger is survived by his siblings Linda (Bruce) Hodgson, Shirley (Don) Hazelton, Bryan, and Judy Brown, his Uncles Wayne Johnson, Bryan (Pat) Johnson, and Aunts Marjorie Blackmur, Dorothy Stewart, and Alice Wilson, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
