Nellie Ann Hutchinson (nee Hnatiw) was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan on January 14th, 1926, along with her twin sister Mary. She was one of four girls born to parents Paul and Lena Hnatiw. She was raised in Bjorkdale, Saskatchewan, where she took her schooling. She worked in the Post Office, then left for Regina, Saskatchewan and other places where there was work.
Nellie married Norman Hutchinson, a long time friend from Prairie River, Saskatchewan. The two were blessed with a son Daryl. After Daryl was born, Nellie began working in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan at the Hospital. This was definitely Nellie’s calling as she loved her job. She became a friend to the patients going out of her way to make them comfortable. On January 14th, 1991, Nellie was honoured for 34 years of service at the Porcupine Carragana Union Hospital.
Nellie was predeceased by her parents Paul and Lena Hnatiw; twin sister Mary Burdeyney; and brother-in-law Cliff Richmond. Left to cherish Nellie’s memory is her son Daryl Hutchinson; grandchildren: Bradley Hutchinson, Erin Hutchinson, and Caitlin Hutchinson; sisters Cecile Richmond and Doris (Will) Richmond; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends
