Obituary for Richard John Belanko

Richard John Belanko was born on February 15, 1949 in Porcupine Plain, SK to parents John and Shirley Belanko. Richard grew up in the Somme District, and received his education in the country school at Blighty, and completed his schooling in Weekes and Porcupine Plain.
On February 8, 1980, Richard married Sharon McDonald, and with this marriage he welcomed Sharon’s three children: Leslie, Scott and Shauna.
Richard’s love of the outdoors lead him to become a Forester. Throughout his working career he worked for Simpson Timber, MacMillan Bloedel, Stonehouse Logging, Ainsworth Lumber, and the last number of years he had his own consulting business from which he retired.
Richard liked being active and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. His passion for being outdoors was evident as he truly enjoyed camping and fishing. Richard also enjoyed sports, particularly curling and slow-pitch ball, he especially loved the Edson Kin Tournament.
Richard was predeceased by his father John, grandparents: Joseph & Elizabeth Belanko and John Horvath and Margaret Rediger, brother-in-law Larry McDonald, and mother-in-law Edna McDonald.
He is loving survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Leslie (Leonard) Netowaysin and their children: Naomi (Ronny), Damon (Ashley), Raymond, Ashley and Aaron, son Scott (Michelle) and their children: Shae (Riley and Rayne), Tyler and Reegan, daughter Shauna MacRae (Cliff Gel) and their daughter Alysha (Jaden), his mother Shirley Belanko, sister Linda (Ed) Kuzyk, brother-in-law Wayne (Joan) McDonald, sister-in-law Sally McDonald, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
