It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lily on December 31, 2015.
Lily was born to Wasyl and Dora Bilawchuk in Canora, Saskatchewan on August 14, 1923. In 1928, the family moved to Kelvington, farming in the Nut Lake District. Lily attended the Nut Lake School until 1938, when she moved to Archerwill to help her oldest sister Annie with the care of her children. In 1943, Lily left for Winnipeg where she worked as a Nanny caring for two little girls. She returned to help her parents on the farm in 1945. There she helped with the daily chores including the milking of the cows and gardening, activities that she greatly enjoyed.
In 1966, Lily started employment at the Kelvington Hotel working as a housekeeper. She worked there for 15 years, retiring in 1981. After retirement, Lily continued to help her sisters, working as a housekeeper, and to help them raise their children. She had a very close bond with her nieces and nephews, all of which were very special to her.
Lily loved with her sister Rose for most of her life. When Roses’ husband, Jon, passed away, Lily continued to stay with Rose, eventually moving with her to Saskatoon.
Lily was predeceased by her parents, five brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her sister Rose, and numerous nieces and nephews.
