Muriel Florence Howat (Parker)
Muriel Florence Howat (nee Parker) was born in 1939, in Cumberland House, SK. She passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 4th, 2015, in Porcupine Plain, SK at the age of 75 years.
Muriel worked as a dietary aid for almost 20 years at the Regina General Hospital. Her hobbies, and varied interests included: sewing, knitting, crochet, quilting, gardening, hunting, and oil painting. She was especially fond of marigolds, hollyhocks, and sweet peas. After moving to Porcupine Plain, she was active with local search and rescue organization as a first responder, and joined the Somme Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion as an Associate Member. Along with her other hobbies and interests she volunteered countless hours at the Buchanan Personal Care Home, and also the Red Deer Nursing Home in Porcupine Plain where she became a resident in her final years.
Muriel is survived by her son Mack (Cindy) Howat of Regina, SK; daughter Sheila (Dave) Hala of Porcupine Plain, SK; special brother David (Nancy) Crane of Hall Lake, SK; 5granchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was longingly known and “Babs,” to close friends and relatives, “Auntie Buck,” to her nieces and nephews, and “KoKo,” to her great-grandchildren.
Muriel is predeceased by her parents Victoria and Charles Parker; sisters Shirley Parker, and Doreen Fraser; brother Ted Parker; brother-in-law Ralph Johnson; uncle The Rev. Charlie Halkett; aunt Sarah Ballantine; and nephew Bruce Parker.
